The RCTS owes its origin to Cheltenham where, in 1927, some railway enthusiasts met in a garden shed, formed a club and called themselves The Cheltenham Spa Railway Society. From this humble beginning the Railway Correspondence and Travel Society was born one year later when the present title was adopted. The Society has grown and flourished ever since.

When the Branch structure was formed Cheltenham didn't have its own Branch initially, but was a sub-branch of Bristol. Cheltenham Branch separated away from Bristol to stand on its own two feet in the late 1960s.We have an annual programme of indoor meetings, held once a month, usually on the third Tuesday, from September to April, at the Victory Club, Burlington House, Lypiatt Road, Cheltenham, GL50 2SY. Our meeting room at the Victory Club is open for us from 1900hrs. Meetings commence at 1930hrs. and you will be made most welcome.

To find the location of the Club click on the location map button. Move the left hand slider upwards to display street names in detail. You can request instructions from your location to the Club.

For Cheltenham branch members a selection of books from the Society library is available at each indoor meetings for you to borrow.

In the summer months particularly (but not exclusively) trips are arranged to visit places of interest to railway enthusiasts.
