Q14.11. D6704 2nd East Anglian Regiment

What was the reason for the (non) naming?

Answer
It appears that the nameplates were fitted in about April 1963, just before the amalgamation into the East Anglian Regiment was mooted, and removed in September 1963. D6704 was probably (reports differ with Roger Harris's The Allocation History of Diesels & Electrics, third edition, part two saying yes and Wikipedia no) similarly fitted with First East Anglian Regiment plates for about the same period, but neither had naming ceremonies. D6705 was to be named Third East Anglian Regiment but no plates were fitted. D6707 was eventually named The East Anglian Regiment. (AL:19501)
