7th January 2020 · Member’s slides

Our AGM on 7thJanuary saw only 14 present plus the four committee members. The fifth member, ‘Mistress of the Urn’ Lizzie Davidson, was absent due to recently cracking two ribs in a fall at Paris Gare de Lyon whilst returning from holiday. Larry, member without portfolio, stepped in to do the teas. The committee was re-elected en bloc, a good job as no one else put their name forward for anything!

Members’ slides followed, starting with a treat from Rob Freeman who showed some H. C. Casserley photographs including 40001 at Willesden Junction, a great 1926 shot of District Railway 4-4-0s Nos. 34 and 35, an ex-Met 4-4-4T as LNER No. 6418 at Stratford, a V2 at Moor Park in 1946 and the Willesden Junction Exhibition featuring underground stock. Geoff Brockett showed the last HST at Cheltenham, Leicester depot, 90001/2 at Norwich, Class 20s on RHTT duties at Retford, Colchester, North Walsham and Class 66s at Skegness and Boston. Bernie Holland showed Corby steel works in diesel days, steam on the District at Chiswick Park, the members’ day out on the GWSR in 2018 and 2019 and a superb shot of the RCTS 1956 dinner at Euston, which had members trying to recognise the attendees. Chairman Geoff Plumb finished with steam shots at Corby steel works, Bristol Harbour and Thurrock power station.
