Re: Northern Counties Transport Society

Hey Graham Superb to hear from you especially as I understand you now live some what further away from Preston than the NCTS reached on any of its trips. It was a real struggle at first to find former members but an increasing number are now coming forward and an increasingly comprehensive archive a...

Re: Library

Train Spotter makes some very valid points. As MisterC has also pointed out, the website is where members are most likely to turn for up to date information about the society and its activities in this day and age. I am aware of a number of members who have only renewed their membership in recent ye...

Spanish Class 14's (D95xx's)

It is well known that three Class 14's, D9515, D9548 and D9549 were exported to Spain in 1982 and then spent several years in storage at Chamartin Yard, Madrid. What then became of them though is far from clear and allthough we have attempted to record what is known at https://www.rcts.org.uk/featur...

This though would not have been possible without the help of others, some of whom have posted in this topic. This help has been very much appreciated. Dave Felton who founde...

Like Mister C he is fascinated about the precise movements and locations of the locomotives, p...

Could Class 08's be used as Emergency Generators?

Through 'Diesel Dilemmas' I occasional receive intriguing questions for which I know not where to turn for an answer. One such was received earlier this year as follows:- "Can you confirm or dismiss the following: ''A number of Class 08s during the Cold War era had an electrical switch holding box a...

Library - Spread the word!

Interesting that the news has been broken by a lay member, all be it one with his ear to the ground. It is presumed that the formal announcement will be made in the October RO which is presumably only days away from appearing on our screens or dropping through our letter boxes. As has been mentioned...

Re: Survey / Questionnaire

Considering the timing of this Questionnaire, would I be correct that a presentation divulging the results with be made during the Officers Conference at Bournemouth? That being the case, is it then the intention to include this in a future RO or make it available through the Members' section of thi...
