Re: A DISCUSSION POINT

Yes. The immediate obvious difference would have been a programme of bridge and tunnel enlargements in the non-broad gauge areas lasting many, many years. As it's easier to make a broad gauge line narrower than a narrow one broader then I would expect that big companies such as the North Eastern wou...

Re: Annual General Meeting insert

I'm not party to any particular financial reasons for doing one thing or another. However, I think an annual report and accounts available to all members is a legal requirement (happy to be corrected if I am wrong).

Re: RO 2014 Index

It looks like it's still there to me. Goto http://www.rcts.org.uk/about/members/pagesuite and then click on "Archive". Hope this helps!

Re: RCTS on facebook

Does the top level page https://www.facebook.com/RCTSUK help?

(I don't 'do' Facebook so I don't know what we're looking for!)

Re: RCTS on facebook

A quick 'Google' search reveals this https://www.facebook.com/RCTSUK/info?tab=page_info which has a photos link, inside which is too much stuff for me to list here. I can't see anything about 'likes' so presume it must be a different page to the one you found.

Re: Major Rail Development Plan for Wales Unveiled

This is the Wales LTPP (long term planning process) document. As exciting as some of the items may be, be aware that it (the actual document) really only gives possibilities of 'things to consider'. The Sussex, Wessex and Western LTPPs 'just happened' without a media launch which might tell you some...

Re: Generational Query

For me it's (1) because I wasn't born until after 1968!

If we take sectorisation as meaning mid-80s then I probably fall into (2) as well, though the roots were a little before when my Gran and Grandad bought me a train set when age 7-ish.

Re: RAILWAY OBSERVER CHANNEL

For those of you who have grumbled at the Editorials in the RO go and read the one by Phil Deaves in the January issue - what a positive breath of fresh air. Well done Phil for cheering us all up, it's a far cry from the gloomy days of the 1970s - I have always considered the period from 1969 to 19...

Re: RAILWAY OBSERVER CHANNEL

One of the few things I am aware of is that the old system allowed a single click downliad of a pdf file and that the new system requires the pages to be selected and then compiled before downloading. A retrograde step in my view. Railway Herald have ? single click option that works very well. Why ...

Re: RAILWAY OBSERVER CHANNEL

I think it's retrograde step in not having a single click option of downloading the RO. You are, I assume, aware that the digital RO system is provided by an outside company and not programmed directly by RCTS volunteers? The team investigated various alternatives and picked the most suitable. If y...
