Pre-nationalisation station use

All, Were there ever any stations pre-nationalisation that were run by one company but served only by another? If so, where (and ideally with dates if known)? To illustrate, a modern day example could be Hinckley station, operated by East Midlands Trains for a decade (so far) but only served by Cros...

Re: Britain's Railway Policy

Members should also be aware that this so-called 'vision' is more a history lesson than a look forward. There is next to nothing 'new' that hasn't already been announced before (and in many cases, is already there!).

Batley station

I have recently stumbled across information that suggests that Batley station will be served only by Transpennine Express in due course. Does anyone know from when this will take place, please? May 2018 timetable?

Thanks!

Re: Class 308

Thanks MisterC . One place that mentions 308991-993 as parcel units is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_308 (with usual caution regarding the source); as you can see it doesn't mention 308994/995 at all. Additionally, I found something about 308991-993 on http://www.railuk.info/ but ...

Class 308

I make no secret of the fact that my interest lies in the railway rather than the trains. As such, my 'train' records are limited and I hope that the good inhabitants of RCTSforumland can help. What is the history behind electric multiple units 308994 and 308995? I've found that 308991-993 were parc...

Re: Mystery location

In another forum, someone investigated the credits and established that it was Wentworth and Holyland. This video has the railway scenes at the start ( http://www.yorkshirefilmarchive.com/film/dear-sergeant-or-story-rough-riding-motorcycling-course ) with loads of fascinating military motorcycle rid...

Re: Cardiff visit

On arrival at what used to be Bute Road, it seemed as if all it had ever been was a single track buffer terminus, but an amble around found the remains of a through platform to the east, presumably for traffic to Bute Docks, but did passenger traffic go any further? As far as can be ascertained, no...

For info, 800003 is the green one of that pair. It was at Old Oak Common open day today.

West Midlands

I expect that most have already picked up, but in case you haven't the West Midlands franchise, currently run by Govia as London Midland, will transfer to Abellio/East Japan/Mitsui control from 10 December.
