FiSH & CHIP LUNCH ON THE SPA VALLEY RAILWAY

Fish & Chip Lunch on the Spa Valley Railway
Yesterday (Thursday 16th February) caught, with Bob, the 10.04 from Strood to Tonbridge, with 66757 The West Somerset Railway coming up light engine from Paddock Wood while we were waiting for 375306.
A rail grinder unit, including 79251 and named Martin Elwood was in Paddock Wood sidings.
Notable at Tunbridge Wells shed was SUTTON stripped to a completely bare frame.
Motive power to Groombridge and back was 0-6-0ST 62 RSH 7673 of 1950.
The large portions of fish and chips were served, with a full set of condiments, as we departed and were followed by ice cream, all washed down (in our case at least) by a bottle of beer. A really enjoyable meal enhanced by the standard of service and cheerfulness of everybody involved.
Getting back to Tonbridge to catch the 16.04 back to Strood, we found GBRf locos:
20132 Barrow Hill Depot
20118 Saltburn-by-the-Sea
73128 O.V.S. Bullied
73136 Mhairi
73213 Rhodalyn
They were on the through road coming from attention at St Leonards to Tonbridge West Yard, and stood there for the full 25 minutes that we were waiting for our train. Nothing unusual perhaps, but great for a photograph, and we were not the only ones to take advantage!
Another enjoyable day out.
