ID Fowler 3F at Bletchley cicra 1963/64

Postby D3796 » Sat Apr 15, 2017 9:01 am

I have a photograph which my late Father took at Bletchley Station (stabled in sidings alongside Bletchley Steam Shed) showing ex WD 90312 and a Fowler 3F 0-6-0T that were on their way to be Scrapped. 90312 Withdrawn 12/1963 and was scrapped at BR Crewe Works 03/1964 so I guess the photograph was taken during late 1963 / early 1964.

The Fowler looks to be from the 47260 to 47309 batch (no keyhole).

I wonder if anyone can identify the loco from Railway Observers during 1963 / 1964 period?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards

Have you been in touch with the What Really Happened to Steam Project http://www.whatreallyhappenedtosteam.co.uk/ giving as much detail as you can. As is well known they are trying to put right the wrongs of the past with regard to locomotive disposal information. For steam locomotives this includes details of storage locations and movements of withdrawn locomotives. It may be they have details of when the pair were at Bletchley or could be a vital piece in the jigsaw they were not aware of.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your reply; I will indeed drop WRHTS an email. I'm going through a few Photographs that my late Father took of loco's mainly at Bletchley Station rekindling some happy memories of my early spotting days.

Straying from the original question a bit, does your father's photo collection from Bletchley include any diesel loco hauled passenger services on the Cambridge-Oxford route? Or any summer Saturday trains to or from the South Coast routed via Bletchley and Oxford instead of via the Great Central?

Unfortunately not, he was very much a "Steam Enthusiast".
