How many of the long promised developments quoted as 'commencing December 2014' have become reality today?

Just a couple off the top of my head I was looking forward to.

Electric services from Liverpool Lime Street - Manchester Victoria/Wigan North Western?

Class 67+Mk 3 formations on the 'Irish Mancunian' and other North Wales trains?

Also on the cards was Chiltern's use of Class 68s on their LHCS (Loco Hauled Coaching Stock) "Mainline Silver" services.

This has partly come to fruition with the first use of 68012 on the blue/grey liveried "Banbury set" of Mk.III slam door coaches yesterday on 1H20, the 07:44 from Banbury to Marylebone and the balance working 1U61, 17:50 from Marylebone to Banbury. The loco also worked the crew training runs in between these workings, 5J68, 09:30 from Marylebone to Stourbridge Junction and the return 5H68, 13:53 from Stourbridge Junction to Marylebone.

The set normally stables at Banbury overnight during the week, returning to Wembley LMD on a Friday evening running ECS as 5E88, 19:25 from Banbury, and then runs ECS as 5U20, 06:20 from Wembley LMD to Banbury on a Monday morning, which 68012 worked yesterday.

However, it appears that whilst the crew training runs are taking place, the ECS will work back to Wembley LMD each evening (5E88 certainly ran last night and 5U20 this morning) in order to refuel and perhaps to iron out any problems.

68012 also ran several test trains last week, certainly on Thursday/Friday/Saturday, 11th to 13th December, these being 5N68, 11:31 from Wembley LMD to Bicester North Turnback Siding and 5E68, 13:36 return from Bicester on Thursday/Friday, the equivalent trains on Saturday departing Wembley LMD at 12:30 and returning from Bicester at 13:58. Incidentally, if anyone regularly uses the "Real Times Trains" website to keep an eye on things, Saturday's 5N68 did not appear on the site until it was actually running!

5J68 is running as I type this message today at 12:20.
