There is an excellent series of photographs and video of Clan Line moving in steam for the first time in nearly two years in the news section of our website with the Chief Engineer at the regulator.

Our CME reports light test runs 'as a complete success', Clan Line is now being prepared to enter the paint shop next week. Two loaded test runs will then take place round the Crewe, Chester, Shrewsbury circuit and subject to no problems arising she will return to her home base at Stewarts Lane 48 hours later.

JUNE UPDATE: Clan Line is now in the paint shop at LNWR Crewe Heritage, hopefully this work will be completed by Friday 16th June. Assuming this is achieved the plan is for a loaded test run via the Shrewsbury circuit on Wednesday 21/06 with the option of a 2nd run the following day if necessary. If all goes well the plan is to return loco and support coach to Stewarts Lane on Saturday 24th June. The society then hits the ground running at the beginning of July this being the 50th anniversary of the end of Southern steam. We are booked for 5 trips between Wednesday 05/07 and Saturday 15/07 including UKRT 'Bournemouth Belle' on 05/07,the anniversary of last day the Belle was steam hauled and also the last day 28 was in traffic, and the 'Waterloo Sunset' on 09/07 the actual anniversary. This is going involve some very hard work by the working members and support crew who are all unpaid volunteers.

FURTHER UPDATE: The loco did not actually go into the paint shop until Fri 02/06 this will put back the date of the loaded test run and return to Stewarts Lane by a few days. I will post further details when I get more information. Watch this space.

The painting of the locomotive in correct BR green is going very well, not black unlike some other similar Bulleid pacific! See the Clan Line website for some pictures of the progress.
