SUMMARY:Romsey Signalbox & Abbey Visit  - Cancelled due to extreme weather
DESCRIPTION:This event has been cancelled due to the extremely hot weather forecasted and red alert in place. \nIt is expected we will reorganise the event for October – details to follow \n  \nWe bring you news of a RCTS Chichester Branch visit to Romsey on Thursday 25 June\, to which you are very welcome to join. \nIn the morning at 10:30\, The Friends of Romsey Signal Box have agreed to open their site especially for our group from RCTS. This will be a hosted two hour guided tour of the various items on display including of course the working signal box that once stood on the junction to the east of Romsey station. Further details about this attraction can be found at: https://romseysignalbox.org.uk \nAmple time will be available for lunch and a leisurely look around\, there are numerous eating establishments in Romsey Town Centre. In the afternoon The Abbey has agreed to a guided one hour tour at 14:30 for our RCTS group.\nFurther details about the Abbey can be found at:\nhttps://romseyabbey.org.uk \nBoth these attractions request a £5 donation for the tours they are offering\, exclusive to RCTS on this occasion. \nNumbers are limited and booking in advance essential. We will accept a booking by cash payment at our meeting at the Bassil Shippam Centre on Wednesday 22 April at 19:15 when Bill Gage will be presenting ‘Rails to Midhurst’. Alternatively you can pay by bank transfer to: \nRoger Sandford    Sort Code: 30-93-04 Account 00459640 \nPlease put your surname plus RCTS Membership Number\, as the reference if paying  by bank transfer. \nAll transactions will be acknowledged as quickly as possible. \nNote parking is widely available in Romsey\, but very limited at the Romsey Signalbox attraction\, which is barely 5 minutes walk from the station. SUMMARY:A Touch of Eastern Promise in Java and Sumatra
DESCRIPTION:Derek Huntriss looks back at the trip of a lifetime: his 1977 tour to Indonesia. From independence\,  just after the war\, to the time of his trip in 1977 Indonesia possessed one of the most fascinating collections to be found in the world with no less than 90 classes of locomotive appearing on the system’s books. Remarkably by 1970 only 11 of these classes had disappeared. The range of types was remarkable from steam trams\, 2-4-0s\, twelve coupled\, Mallets\, compounds\, and rack engines\, produced by a score of builders from seven countries and three continents. \nFor this virtual event\, you will require a ticket.
