DESCRIPTION:The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) was established in 2005\, following a recommendation from the Cullen enquiry as the independent body for investigating accidents and incidents on mainline railways\, metros\, tramways and heritage railways throughout the UK. Having advised on its establishment\, using his experience as a BTP Crime Scene Investigator managing the scenes of train accidents\, Ian Capewell jumped ship (or train!) to join it as an Inspector\, and now comes to tell of the background to the RAIB\, who they are\, what they do and how they do it.

SUMMARY:All Change\, Britain's Railways 1967 to 1979
DESCRIPTION:Following Mike’s personal farewell tour of steam around the UK in 1966\, railways took a back seat in his life. University\, jobs\, marriage\, and children took over and railway photographs generally resulted from being at a location for other reasons\, rather than special trips to photograph trains. However\, the photos he did take chart an era of significant change on the Britain’s railways; the end of steam on BR and the early diesels\, diminishing industrial steam\, and the emerging railway heritage scene. Locations covered in this presentation includes photos taken in the Birmingham area\, the British Leyland Longbridge railway facility\, Kent\, Somerset\, Berkshire\, and the London Area. \nMike is a 4th generation railwayman\, born in Bath\, moving to Bristol at the age of 10 and now living in Chippenham. \n

SUMMARY:The Current Day Scene in Europe
DESCRIPTION:The show will feature pictures of the modern scene in Italy\, Belgium\, Netherlands\, Germany\, Denmark\, Sweden\, Luxembourg and Baltic States. \n\nBrian spent 41 years with BR in operations control at such places as Liverpool Lime St\, Rugby\, Stoke on Trent\, Manchester Victoria\, London Euston\, Orpington Beckenham\, London Waterloo ending up with Railtrack in Blackfriars Road\, London. He was on duty when the Great Train Robbery occurred\, during a train crash on GC line at Rugby and numerous incidents on South Eastern including derailments\, crashes\, boat trains etc. He attempted to run specials from Manchester to Blackpool with rolling stock they did not have! In his ‘spare’ time he organised  and lead LCGB Overseas Tours for many years.

SUMMARY:The Long Lost Roy Vincent and Tom Williams Collections
DESCRIPTION:For many years both authors and publishers alike would have loved to include images from these collections in their titles. In this presentation our own well versed speaker\, Chris Youett\, will explain their stories in detail. Roy Vincent was an official photographer for the LNER and later British Railways Eastern region. \nWe will also include images from the more recently uncovered Tom Williams collection.
