SUMMARY:‘Railways and Me – Full Circle’ – by John Dyer.
DESCRIPTION:This will be a fairly wide-ranging personal perspective which might be described as ‘Bidston\, Birkenhead and Beyond’.  It starts with my interest in steam railways as a youth and railways generally\, which was kindled locally on Merseyside where I was born and bred\, and gradually expanding to other locations further afield.  There are lots of photographs (mainly of steam\, but with a few diesels and electrics thrown in) from the mid-1950s onwards\, through to my time with the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway. DESCRIPTION:If after the Christmas celebrations you’re getting fed up with assum Meleagris gallopavo domesticus\, come and enjoy a presentation of Turcorum ferri vapor equis\, from excellent photographer Peter Robins. \nTurkey was a steam enthusiast’s paradise between 1978 and 1983 as locos from more than twenty different classes were used over much of the country. The presentation covers many of the steam operations including the intense suburban services around Izmir in the west\, heavy freights in the spectacular Euphrates gorge in the east and American built locos on both passenger and freight workings along the Black Sea coast in the north. A few working 8F’s are also included.

SUMMARY:"The Gulf Oil Refinery Branch Line" Building a Railway in the 1960's - Dick Watts preceded by Branch AGM
DESCRIPTION:Richard Watts is a Chartered Civil Engineer (known professionally as Dick Watts) who\, spent nearly 40 years in design and construction of railway Civil Engineering works\, originally in the Chief Civil Engineer’s Office of British Railways Western Region at Paddington and latterly with consultants Scott Wilson & Kirkpatrick at Swindon. \nDuring the 1960s he spent nearly five years on site as a Resident Engineer supervising construction contracts in the south and west of England and Wales\, one of which was for the construction of a 2½ mile branch line to the new Gulf Oil Refinery on Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire\, the subject of this talk. The talk will consist of a 30 minute slide presentation describing the scheme development\, Parliamentary process\, design\, construction of the line\, and the problems encountered\, finishing with a half hour video which includes contemporary images and film footage taken during construction.
