DESCRIPTION:As the USSR came to an end in 1991\, tours for foreign railway enthusiasts became possible\, and your presenter participated in a number of these in the 1990s\, to Ukraine\, Russia and Belarus\, photographing what still very much – at least as it appeared to a westerner – the single railway system of the (former) USSR\, a country that had seemed so permanent. While the tours featured retained steam locomotives\, he also took the opportunity of recording the contemporary diesel and electric power: both steam and modern traction feature in his presentation.

DESCRIPTION:Derek Huntriss returns with another presentation of his excellent photography\, this time from the 1980s\, illustrating the railways of the North of England as they cross the Pennines to link the cities of Lancashire and Yorkshire. A show of two halves\, in the first we see the every day scene of then modern traction (how much of it remains today?)\, moving on to preserved steam after the break;  in both parts showing the trains in context\, to convey a sense of time and place.

SUMMARY:Six Decades of Steam Railway Photography
DESCRIPTION:I have been privileged to have volunteered on the Bluebell Railway during the early 1960s\, and on the Watercress Line for the past fourteen years. This experience has given me good operational knowledge and provided opportunities for my photography\, which I shall enjoy sharing with your members. My presentation will include pictures taken during the 1960s\, mainline steam\, (including around Chichester)\, and a selection of images taken on the Mid Hants\, Bluebell and Swanage Railways. \n
