Colour-Rail : 9th Journey

The Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales Branch of the RCTS were magnificently entertained by Paul Chancellor at their Liverpool meeting on 4 May. This meeting was delayed from January because of the Covid pandemic.

Paul showed a selection of photographs from the Colour Rail library and started with an alphabet of named trains from A to Z.  We were amazed by the number of named trains there were, some of them very obscure, and we had varying degrees of success trying to guess some of the names as he went through the alphabet.

The second half of the meeting was all about special trains - football specials, works outings, clubs and societies, holidays and rugby specials. Once again, it was surprising to see how many special trains there were, hauled by steam, diesel and electric.  We hope it won't be too long before Paul is invited back up to the north west.
