Cotswold Rail Class 03s - top page

During 2000 this locomotive was located at the Churnet Valley Railway as it had been since 1993. No departure date from the Churnet Valley Railway has yet been established, but March 2001 is possible.  Any observations of it there could prove to be very useful in confirming this. It has been recorded that the locomotive then moved to the Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh, but this was not the case.  The reality was that it was moved directly from the Churnet Valley Railway to RAF Quedgeley, near Gloucester where Cotswold Rail rented workshop space.  It was at  RAF Quedgeley that Cotswold Rail scrapped D2070 after removing various components, including the engine which was exported to Egypt.  Scrapping is thought to have taken place around July 2001.  It seems that whilst at Quedgeley it was actually reported as being D2150 which was never at Quedgeley.

Any dated sightings made of the locomotive made during 2000, 2001 and 2002 would be invaluable in confirming movement and scrapping dates.  Please forward sightings to Peter Hall
