71001 and Sir Lamiel at Stratford

Post by 21275 » Wed Jul 15, 2020 3:32 pm

On 23 June 1978 SR N-15 King Arthur 30777 "Sir Lamiel" and SR electric loco 71001 were hauled together from Ashford, Chart Leacon, to Stratford DRS. They stopped only for a couple of days. On 26 June they were observed continuing their journey through Cambridge hauled by 31322. They were observed at Lincoln the next day on their way to Hull and Doncaster, respectively.
Can any one say, please, the route that the two locomotives were taken from Ashford to Stratford?
Thanks

There is a photo in the September 1978 issue of the "Railway Magazine" depicting 30777 and 71001 at Bromley South.

Thank you, Norman,
I looked in that particular Railway Magazine yesterday but completely missed that photograph.
