SUMMARY:Cheltenham Branch - Great Central Railway Reunification
DESCRIPTION:Tom Ingall is our presenter for this evening’s topic of the Reunification of the Great Central Railway. The older GCR heritage railway runs between Leicester and Loughborough\, and the more recent GCR(N) runs between Loughborough Junction (just to the north of the Midland Main Line) and Ruddington. The two elements are tantalisingly close to each other\, but there is a gap which needs to be filled in. A bridge across the Midland Main Line north of Loughborough to connect the two elements is now in place\, but there is much work to do to complete this complicated project. \nPlease note: – the March meeting is a week earlier than normal due to Cheltenham Gold Cup Race Week being in the way of our usual date. \n
