1 March 2024 A.G.M. followed by ‘My Early Years’ by Branch President Arthur Turner.

32 people were present for the Bristol Branch AGM followed by a presentation by Branch President Arthur Turner titled, “My Early Years…” with black and white images from around the 50’s period.
We started with 2 slides from 1948 of the LMS diesel loco 10000 at the old Derby Station and 41032 at Nottingham. We then moved to 1952 and Harpenden, 42788, 73018. Also, in 1952 at Boxmoor 48656 and 49005 were on a down freight and pick up goods. We had slides from Hither Green, Bricklayers Arms and Nine Elms and after the Southern interlude we went back to Harpenden with 44848 and 49432, then we moved around works at Manchester with pilots 52387 and 52461 and on to Colwick shed, Hither green Darlington Millhouse Shed. York and Sheffield Darnall.
We saw D11 62667 at Shire Oaks on a RCTS Rail tour. We saw another D11 62667 at Sheffield Midland also on an RCTS Rail Tour. We then moved to Scotland, Beatock Greenock Princess Pier and Ladyburn Shed, Perth. Aberdean, Inverness Works Dundee Shed Haymarket Motherwell. We then move to York and Several shots of Jubilees, an A2/3 Dante on a York Express, we visited Darlington, including 60800 Green Arrow onto Horwich with 42983, and Narrow Gauge loco Wren.
We move back to Harpenden and saw 40407 and 73001 double heading. We were then treated to 69999 at Gordon Works, A1X DS377 Brighton Shed a King at Bristol and shots of North Wales Britania Tubular Bridge, 58100 at Bromsgrove. At St Albans Abbey was a RCTS special with J52 at one end and 49431 on the other. 688878 was seen on an RCTS Rail Tour at Finsbury Park and 41909 at Rickmansworth on yet another RCTS Rail Tour.
By means of a change we saw a Llandudno Tram. We finished in Northville with the Britannia Tubular bridge and Llanfair PG Station. We ended at St Pancreas with 46100
This was a fantastic showing of Arthurs early slides, a well-deserved round of applause followed.
After the end of the AGM Stewart Jolly presented a short presentation of the new society website both the main site and the Branch section.
