18th December 2024: AGM and Presentations of Members’ photographs

On Monday 18th  December we held our AGM followed by a presentation of some recently discovered photographs of the Weedon Rail crash in 1951 together with a brief look at photos of Northampton’s St John Street Station at the time of closure in 1939. The Weedon crash reminded several members of their recollections at the time, which led to discussion on sightings of movements diverted through Northampton as a result of the accident and those of other later diversions, culminating in the oft talked of incident by young trainspotters of a Clan being spotted on Northampton shed. This news spread like wild fire, not by the social media of today, but by boys on their bikes which they pedalled furiously in order to spread the news as quickly as possible!
