25th November 2024: The Tommy Tomalin Collection Part 2, presented by  Brian Sullivan

The photographs taken by the late Tommy Tomalin are well known not only by local railway enthusiasts, but wider afield through publications in various books over the years. During his long life Tommy widely travelled the rail system, tracing routes of both open and closed lines, sometimes taking views from unusual angles, and he was no stranger to heights if he could get a good photo. His collection of photographs is now in the custody of his life-long friend and travelling companion, Branch Member Brian Sullivan, and once again Brian treated us to a fascinating series of images from the collection. He followed a well established format of following a route, stopping off as Tommy did, at stations and points of interest on the way, at different points in time, resulting in an interesting variation of  locomotives and rolling stock and the changing scene over time. Brian continued a previous journey covering the Great Western route from Didcot to Birmingham, this time travelling from just north of Oxford to the terminus at Birmingham Snow Hill.
