3 November 2023 ‘That Was The Year That Was 1964’ By Geoff Plumb.

On Friday 3rd November 52 Members and Guests welcomed Geoff Plumb for his talk titled “That was the year that was 1964” he took us on a tour of the country in 1964, starting with Willesden, with a Duchess and shots of Jubilees and Royal Scots, then a complete change with pictures of a Peckett working at a cement works. Old Oak common next, with 47XX and 61XX, We moved northwards with shots including Gresley V3 and 02, Doncaster had Austerities and J50. Moving to Cosham we saw 34083 on a rail tour. The Southern region saw Bullied Pacifics and 30824, we also saw V2 at Denham and at Harrogate we saw RCTS Tour with 61435.
After a short break for refreshments, we visited the Lickey Bank with a 9F and 94XX. At Brinscombe we saw the Auto Train from Gloucester. Geoff featured Deltics, Cambrian Coast Trains, and Welsh Narrow Gauge. We moved to the Isle of Wight observing no 33 at Ryde Pier head.
Finally we finished with another RCTS tour with Pacific Sir William Stanier. We ended on the Great Central at Nottingham. Geoff was given a round of applause and we look forward to 1965
