Gloucester to Gloucester via Bristol, The S & D
Railway, The Southern and London presented by

The speaker booked for our April meeting was unable to travel, and so Brian Arman stepped in with slides from his collection, taking us from Gloucester to Gloucester via numerous locations.
Starting from Gloucester we travelled south towards Bristol seeing various locos on the way.
At Bristol Temple Meads Castle 5035 Coity Castle was seen on the ‘Bristolian, along with the prototype HST, followed by a view of Barrow Road shed with a mixture of Great Western and Midland locos.
At Mangotsfield a crab was spotted and a std. 3 tank 82004 was at Warmley. At Bath.Green Park shed S&D 7F, 2P a 9F and Bullied pacific 34057 ‘Biggin Hill’ were noted.
We then travel down the S&D with views of 7Fs, 2Ps, 9Fs and Bullied pacifics at various locations. At Radstock there was a view of 2 sentinals and a Jinty.
From Templecombe we travelled up the main line towards London visiting most of the London Termini where many different locomotives were seen. We then travelled up the west coast through Bletchley and Rugby to Birmingham New Street where we saw a ‘Prince of Wales’ Class 4-6-0 several Jubilees and a crab.
On the last leg of our journey a couple of shots on the Lickey showing a Std. 5 No 73045 with two locos banking. At the bottom of the incline a 9F and four Hawksworth panniers were seen. The last photo was at Ashchurch where Royal Scot No 46137 was seen on the up line.
As usual Brian presented a very entertaining and an informative show which was enjoyed by 42 members and visitors.
