KEITH BLACKSHAW, who is an Inspector of Rail Accidents, presents ‘An introduction to the RAIB’ (Rail Accident Investigation Branch).
Keith has been at RAIB now for 3 years, after 21 years working on the front line of the rail industry. He started his railway career as a Customer Host for Midland Mainline in 2002, by 2003 he was able to work trains as a Guard and was able to do so till the day he left in 2023. His last role in the former East Midlands Railway was as an Operations Standards Manager. He came to RAIB with the specialism in railway operations.
The presentation gives a little bit of history in rail investigation and how that all started, with a look at a couple of early investigations. He will then cover the reasons RAIB was set up and look at a case study form one of their investigations that led to a change in the railway Rule Book.
Please note this is a physical meeting, doors open from 18:30 for a 19:00 start, with a half-time break for refreshments, and we aim to finish around 21:30.
