Didcot to Birmingham Snow Hill – featuring the historic slides of Tommy Tomalin

Our February meeting featured another selection by Brian Sullivan from the digitalised  historic slides of Tommy Tomlin on a railway journey from Didcot to Birmingham Snow Hill along one of the old Great Western Railway’s main lines. Tommy was adept at getting into signal boxes and climbing things so there were plenty of elevated views.    The progress with our journey was shown periodically on images from a railway atlas showing closed as well as open stations and adjacent railway lines The images ranged from post war steam, through preserved steam and early diesels and DMU's to 21st  century Turbos, Voyagers and HST's. They were taken from a range of positions including stations, above tunnel mouths, footbridges and road bridges in addition to the line side..

“An enjoyable and varied selection.  Our last afternoon meeting of the season with an excellent attendance"
