On 26th March Bob Gellatly presented his talk ‘An A to Z of Great Central locomotives’
The presentation began by looking at the designs of Charles Sacré , Thomas Parker, and Harry Pollitt for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway (MS&L) and then moved into the GCR era and looked at John Robinson’s designs. The story didn’t stop there as both Gresley and Thompson carried o u t programmes of rebuilding for Robinson’s locomotives. The story ended in April 1966 with the withdrawal of the last Robinson locomotives from BR service – four class O4/ locos. A fascinating and well researched presentation and a mine of information for GCR fans
