Annual General Meeting 2021

The branch AGM was held on 21st December 2021 by Zoom. The chairman advised that face to face meetings, which recommenced in September, were restricted to one per month with a further Zoom meeting also each month due to substantially increased room hire fee, likely limited attendance and very limited income from book sales whilst most events were suspended. The treasurer stated that the financial deficit of the last 18 months could be higher in 2022 due to meeting costs being incurred ahead of book sales income although that some events will hopefully restart at the end of February.

The existing committee members were re-elected “en-bloc” with one change, Rodney Allen taking over the vacant vice-chairman role but continuing as treasurer until 30 April by which time a new treasurer must be found.

After formal business Jed Thomas presented photographs taken in and around certain Nottinghamshire coal mines. The first covering redevelopments at the mines with incidental images of mainly BR steam on adjacent running lines or yards. Later images covered colliery owned locomotives in various liveries as they were moved to other mines and ultimately in disrepair and store.

Robert Smyth showed steam era photos, first lineside then depots in the London area as his introduction to “trainspotting”. He conclude with more modern images taken at several heritage railways.
