East Midlands Day Ranger

The branch made full use of the East Midlands Day Ranger ticket for their April outdoor fixture which had been put back one week owing to ASLEF strikes taking place around the 9th April.

Crewe was the start point with the train to Nottingham. Care was taken as to which side of the carriage to sit so that we could get a good view of the yard in Derby.  On arrival at Nottingham there was enough time to take in a few Nottingham tram numbers and enjoy a cup of coffee before the onward trip to Worksop. Worksop is a delightful station with its quaint café and street furniture.

After a brief stop there it was off to Lincoln. By this time some of the party had gone their separate ways to places that attracted them. We did find an excellent hostelry to rest a while as there was not much happening at the station.

The trip home started with a very busy train back to Nottingham where most of the party met up again for the final leg back to Crewe.  It was good to see the new 810001 due for delivery to East Midlands at Derby and the new Avanti 805001 at Crewe on the way home.

Thanks were expressed to all who make these fixtures possible. Seven members attended.
