Former LMS ‘Royal Scot’ 4-6-0 No. 46118 Royal Welch Fusilier’ passing Cathiron (near Rugby) on the West Coast Main Line at speed on a Blackpool to Euston express on Saturday 29th July, 1950. When the photograph was taken, the engine was allocated to Camden Shed. The reporting number on the smokebox door indicates the train was a weekend extra service. 46118 was built by the North British Locomotive Co., Glasgow, and took to the rails on 6th November 1927. It was rebuilt with the Stanier 2A taper boiler in December 1946 and withdrawn from Carlisle Upperby Shed in June 1964. Photograph copyright of Sutton Coldfield Railway Society

A further presentation of photographs from the Sutton Coldfield Railway Society’s Moseley Archive of over 2000 photographs taken by the late Percy Moseley between 1911 and the 1970s. Following previous presentations of images from the 1940s, this will cover the years 1950 and 1951 – just after Nationalisation, when British Railways was establishing its own style – and will be made by Robin Mathams, joint archivist.
