David says – The talk is called ‘A Toss of the Coin’ as one shaped my railway career to the operating rather than marketing side and I would cover my railway training at Old Oak Common in the late 50s and WR training in 1961-4, SM and AM roles in South Wales in 1960s, ten years in productivity services consultancy at WR & BR HQ leading to Chief Operating Mgr LMR in 1986, BR’s first Reliability Manager in 1986 and BR Head of Safety Policy after the Clapham accident in Dec 1988.

After retirement at privatisation in 1996 I was an international Railway Safety Consultant for 5 years, and founded the Railway Children charity in 1995.
