Alongside the line from Leeds to Selby at Micklefield was Peckfield Colliery. Here, on the left is 0-6-0T (OC) NCB No. S.100 (Hudswell Clarke No. 1822 of 1949), while on the right Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST (IC) No. 3891 of 1965 propels some coal wagons towards the tip sidings on a cold but sunny winter's day, Tuesday 19th January 1971. The Hunslet saddle tank was originally built by Hudswell Clarke (No. 1763 of 1944) but was bought by Hunslet and rebuilt on the Gas Producer system and acquired a new identity! No. S.100 was also modified on this system and is now based at the Chasewater Railway. Image Credit: Geoff Plumb.

Our Chairman Geoff Plumb takes his usual July spot, this time presenting ‘That Was the Year That Was – 1971’. A very busy year covering railways in the UK, including British Railways, industrials, some North Wales narrow gauge, last of steam on London Transport, Humber paddle steamers, and the Bulmer’s Cider Train return to steam. Interspersed with several trips to West Germany and also East Germany.

Venue doors open around 18:30 for a 19:00 start, there will be a halftime break for refreshments and finish time will be around 21:30. All welcome!
