Travel at the Extreme Margins (North Africa and Eastern Europe)

Rebecca will cover two rail trips. The first is a trip to Mauritania which she undertook in 2000 and the second a collection of images from four trips to Moldova and Transnistria. Whilst rail will be covered, there will also be an overview of the countries and a look at their culture.

Rebecca’s interest in trains came from her father who took her on her first railtour with the SLS Teesside Centre in 1972. She has always loved travel by rail and all the experiences arising from this. She was President of the Cambridge University Railway Club from 1991-92. She has always enjoyed a mixture of unusual rolling stock, rail operations along with interesting destinations and people. She enjoys pushing the boundaries of what can be done and where you can go by rail.

She is a shareholder of the DTG, the Fifty Fund and is a Life Member of the Mid Norfolk Railway.
