From Loughborough to Khartoum via Euro Disney – a Railway Engineer’s tale – Phil Lyndsey

On 22nd October Phil Lyndsey related the tale of his interesting career in private industry, which included starting out with Brush “on the mechanical side of electronics” for locomotives, which he greatly enjoyed, then moving to Metro-Cammell, which was more of a commercially-focused role pitching for new business, then a period with Hugh Phillips Engineering in Tredegar which gave him plenty of scope to get his hands dirty including building three steam locos for Euro Disney and a motor trolley for Mozambique. The talk was excellent and it is good to be able to get something to balance the rather historic / steam focus of many talks, albeit of course the pace of technology means that much of the subject matter of Phil’s talk is now history. Recommended. He is a member of the Lutterworth Society and a volunteer at Toddington for a group which looks after Class 37 37215.
