“Missed Locos & Lost Locations”

Presenter: Ted Parker

Early in the month of May Ted Parker, a famed producer of steam related videos, came to Saltaire to present “Missed Locos & Lost Locations” which was the first afternoon meeting since the impact of Covid and was attended by the regular group of attending members.  The filmed material focussed on steam locomotives that are not to be seen in main line action at this current time and the chosen locations were from positions (or sites) that are now no longer accessible.  Many were the locations along the Settle & Carlisle Railway from which superb action pictures were filmed, together with long lost scenes in Scotland, Edale and the North East of England.  Those targeted locomotives that are not now to be currently seen on the main line were to include the full range of East Coast, West Coast, British Rail and Southern Region Pacifics whilst the Midland Jubilees, “Green Arrow”, Black Fives and several other un-named main line regulars were also beautifully illustrated.  Of particular note were scenes showing the brief main line runs made by “Mallard” when commemorating the 50th Anniversary of its world record run.

The overall presentation was to a very high standard and a thoroughly entertaining afternoon with loads of interest and action packed with steam was very much enjoyed by all.
