Outside Visit to Bradford Model Engineers

Activities for the summer months began with a July visit to Bradford Model Engineers at their woodland domain in Shipley.  Doubtless the excellent weather contributed to the entertainment that focussed on an evening of “playing with trains”.  The two tracks around the park were in full use thus enabling locomotives of varying gauges to be employed.  Operations around the lengthy woodland circuit were in the hands of the Engineers’ ubiquitous petrol hydraulic 0-6-0 shunter on which members were invited to test their driving skills.  This, in conjunction with a superb 0-4-0 tender outside cylinder steam engine, attracted much attention and delight.  The oval circuit was directly in the hands of a delightful 0-6-0 tank engine and a beautiful well patronised 4-2-0 Crampton, both of which made countless journeys around the tracks.  Due to the enthusiasm of the Engineers in providing the grand array of motive power, together with their hospitality made for a most excellent evening of summer entertainment.
