Photographic Review of 2024-25
Saturday 10th January 2026. When heavy snowfall prevented Branch Chairman Callum MacLeod from travelling from Crieff. Deputy Chairman Chris Hall, a new Scottish Branch Committee member, introduced Keith Sanders, a long time Branch member and well known Railway photographer who was presenting his latest “Photographic Review”, covering 2024 and 2025. The majority of locations were in East Lothian.
East Linton station featured the Mossend PD Stirling to Doncaster, the afternoon Doncaster-Millerhill infrastructure, the original ScR totem and a TransPennine service. A Royal Scotsman locomotive was on Mossend-Doncaster approaching Longniddry. 66109 ‘Teesport Express’ hauled Mossend-Tees near East Linton. Other named locomotives included GBRF's Evening Star, 37403 Isle of Mull, 66736 Wolverhampton Wanderers, 66783 Flying Dustman and 66301 Drax Power Station 50 on various services. 47712 Lady Diana Spencer with the LSL push-pull set traversed the Borders Railway, a number of new class 807s were noted in addition to TransPennine sets and Northern Belle excursions. Several test trains, infrastructure and nuclear waste services were seen as well as cement workings emanating from Oxwellmains. GBXV11 movements were recorded while examples of classes 66, 70, 88, 90 & 99001 also appeared.
The photographer’s favourite locomotive, 60532 Blue Peter, was photographed at Kinghorn undertaking a Fife Circle excursion, ending this presentation that was much appreciated by the attendees.
