Railways at the dawn of Nationalisation – Robin Mathams
On 28th November we welcomed back Robin Mathams from the Sutton Coldfield Railway Society who shared the Moseley photographic collection from of one of their former members.
This was a real treat for steam buffs as there was a constant procession of photographs mainly taken on the WCML near Coventry between 1947 and 1949, with occasional diversions to the GC and Midland lines. The show also featured the two prototype diesels 10000 and 10001
One of the comments from the audience was the prolific length of most of the expresses even those hauled by less powerful locomotives which looked to be as long as twelve coaches.
A well presented illustrated talk which was attended by 33 people
