“Shots in the Dark”

Presenter: Peter Holden

The meeting in February brought Peter Holden, of Bradford Railway Circle fame, to the Branch in order to present “Shots in the Dark” which exclusively concentrated on night-time photography featuring modern day motive power in many different localities.  The material on show initially focussed on scenes from abroad, taking the audience to the distant countries of Canada, Australia and New Zealand which featured both main line motive power and city trams in numerous major cities.  Similarly, visits into Europe described light and heavy rail activities in numerous widespread capital cities across the continent.

Home territories were sectionalised which chiefly described modern day locomotives, and units, in innumerable well lit locations illustrating activities on the Western Region, West Coast Main Line, Lancashire, the Scottish Far Lines North and the North East.  Much was to be seen in local areas, specifically around Bradford, Leeds, Huddersfield, Halifax, Shipley and Skipton.  Several excellent interludes described steam day scenes at the Worth Valley in combination with tours around Stourton, Neville Hill and Toton Depots, where many of today’s current fleet of locomotives were to be viewed.

This very different presentation was well received by the membership.
