The John Wells Collection Part 1 – Chris Berridge / Bryan Acford

On Monday 26th September 2022 our guest speakers, Chris Berridge and Bryan Acford presented Part 1 of the John Wells Collection. Chris began with a brief history of this little known photographer and the story behind his association with John Wells. This black and white collection was scanned and restored by Bryan and began on Southern Region territory before roaming all regions south of York/Scarborough. The period covered by this excellent collection of mainly lineside images was taken between 1952 and 1958 and included many named locos and expresses .
It was remarked that some 10 years later all of these would be swept away and replaced by diesels or electrics. We thanked Chris and Bryan for putting on an excellent show and look forward to Part 2. Our Secretary, Derek Huntriss, thanked members and visitors for their continued support as our 2022/2023 season drew to a close.
