The Leek and Manifold Light Railway
On 14th February Paul Blurton gave a comprehensive talk about the Leek & Manifold Light Railway which recounted the history of the line from its opening in 1904 to its eventual demise in 1934. The talk described a walk from Waterhouses to Hulme End and a series of photographs of the line showing the various stations and other locations as they were and as they are today
The highlight was a brief film of a various activities and parts of a journey along the line a few months prior to closure
Altogether a fascinating story of a line which had it survived beyond WW2 would have been a prime candidate for preservation
