Visit to Stafford

On 14 January 2025 six members of the RCTS met at Stafford station for a fixture which had been originally planned for 7 January but had been postponed owing to the adverse weather conditions that week.

The spirits which had been in evidence at the previous pre-Christmas meeting at Stafford in December 2024 were of course nowhere to be seen, but the motivation of all members attending was high as Stafford has the reputation of being one of the best spots in the country for freight sightings and is easy to access by rail.

Stafford did not let us down as we experienced a good and wide ranging volume of freight activity throughout the day. In addition, there was of course the usual diet of Pendolinos, Voyagers and class 350 EMUs, with the added interest of new class 805 and 807 sets plying up and down the WCML, mainly to and from Chester.

All in all, an excellent day out with the RCTS.
