Visit to Stafford

The day started badly for some as 2 members travelling from Chester were delayed because of a cancelled train and our member from Colwall had to dash back home from the station to collect his phone when he realised that it contained his tickets! However, despite these problems, 5 members did finally arrive in Stafford.

On the way there we identified 3 class 777s in the yard at Crewe in their gleaming yellow Mersey Rail livery.

The day had the usual plethora of LNWR Class 350s, Avanti Class 390s and Cross Country Voyagers.  An interesting sight was a pair of Orion Rail livered units 319373 and 768001 waiting to travel south.  A pair of new Bombardier Aventra class 730s on test between Crewe and Nuneaton travelled through Stafford 4 times during the day.  A variety of freight was observed, pulled by class 56s, 57s, 66s, 68s, 88s and 90s.

The time at Stafford finished well with 34046 Braunton steaming through at speed with an ecs working from Southall to Crewe - a very nostalgic sight.

Another good day out and even the weather played ball.
