On Monday 19th September 2023 our guest speaker, Tony Bowles, Archivist of The Restoration & Archiving Trust, based at Toddington on the GWSR, gave us a superb show for our first meeting of the 2023/2024 season.

Taken almost exclusively from his own collection personal they delved into nostalgia covering the period 1962 to 1970. Starting in Northern Ireland he covered the whole of the UK and closed with images in Warwickshire finishing at his home base at Toddington.

Covering steam workings on BR and at many industrial locations, these rare and mainly unpublished images included historical rail tours, particularly the veterans in Scotland that had been returned to steam for railtour duties.

Images of the last steam workings on BR sharied memories of trips many of us had travelled on or photographed. A thoroughly entertaining afternoon.
