12th July 2021 · On-Line Meeting: Exhibition Prints of the Late Malcolm Ranieri, FRPS

For our Zoom meeting on Monday 12th July we were treated to a presentation of Mounted Exhibition Prints and Other Images of the Late Malcolm Ranieri FRPS, scanned for presentation by The Restoration & Archiving Trust and presented to us by Tony Bowles, the Trust’s Archivist. The Trust is located at Toddington station on the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway where Malcolm was a volunteer – as he was, also, on the Severn Valley Railway. Malcom’s wide ranging interests included, principally, railways and rolling stock in all forms, but also vintage traction engines, narrow boats and barges, buses and coaches, lorries, industrial buildings, and so on. The presentation provided stunning examples of Malcom’s considerable and highly respected photographic talents across all aspects of these heritage subjects but mostly, to the delight of the audience, railways and trains. These were photographed at a great many locations across England, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man, and the presentation concluded with extended visits to the three lines which Malcolm visited most: the Great Central Railway and, of course, the GWSR and SVR.
