AGM followed by Alan Hopkins :‘From Euston to the North in the Days of Steam’

On 8th January we held our AGM which 15 members attended; however as it covered a period when there were no branch activities due to the pandemic, there was little to report. However the existing committee was re-elected en bloc and a discussion was held regarding future activities. Afterwards Alan Hopkins presented ‘From Euston to the North in the Days of Steam’ showing images that he has collected; most of the pictures were from the 1950s and 60s, but there were also views from earlier decades. He started with an extended look at Euston station, not just of the platform area, but there were a number of views displaying the internal architecture of the main buildings and of course the Arch, all of which were sadly swept away in the 1960s. We then visited Camden and Willesden sheds before seeing views from some of the main stations and sheds en route to Glasgow, with Coronations, Royal Scots and Jubilees to the fore. This was a most enjoyable show with plenty of contributions from those in attendance.
