John Heaton – An Area Managers Memories

For our November meeting we welcome the last Area Manager of the Exeter area, John Heaton. John had a long railway career in various parts of the country before he became the Area Manager in the Exeter area, and his time in Exeter area has formed the basis for a series of books that he has written covering the trials and tribulations of running the local railways in the transition period in the 1980s. Following his retirement John has written many articles for The Railway Magazine on Railway Practice and Performance.
Johns talk for the West of England branch will be a fascinating insight into the challenges of running the railways in the Exeter area which covered the Waterloo -Exeter line to Salisbury, the main and branch lines east and west of Exeter.
