Have a Railway Book Idea? We'd Love to Hear from You

The Railway Correspondence and Travel Society (RCTS) is committed to publishing high-quality books that preserve and promote Britain’s railway heritage. If you have an idea for a book or have already begun writing a manuscript we would be delighted to hear from you.


We welcome proposals on any railway-related subject that aligns with the Society’s charitable objectives. Whether your work covers steam, diesel, electric, infrastructure, operations, or railway history, we are always interested in discussing new publishing opportunities.

We're Particularly Interested In

We are especially keen to hear from authors interested in the modern railway era, including:

  • Diesel and electric traction
  • The design, construction and development of locomotives
  • The history of early diesel and electric traction in the UK
  • Railway operations, infrastructure and engineering
  • Other subjects of railway historical or technical interest
Whether your project is at the initial idea stage or you already have a completed or draft manuscript, we’d be pleased to discuss it with you.

Can You Help with Publishing?

As well as seeking authors, we are also interested in hearing from people with experience in book production, editing, design, printing or publishing who would like to help the Society prepare future titles.
