Cheshire Day Ranger

This fixture to Cheshire and Merseyside was well supported with 9 members attending and all meeting up at Chester station.  We set off first of all to Shotton intending to catch a train to Bidston.  The problem was that the train to Bidston was cancelled just 5 minutes before it was due to arrive.  We weren’t going to wait for 45 minutes for the next one so it was back to Chester.

On arrival into Chester we were greeted with the sight of Deltic D9000 humming away - a great sight with lots of noise.  We lost a couple of members at this point whilst others hit the new class 777s into Liverpool and beyond to Kirkdale, and even to the new station at Headbolt Lane.

We all seemed to get back together at Sandhills where we stayed for sometime.  As time moved on we went back into Liverpool where the group dispersed, some going on to Manchester and the Chester members going back to Chester.  It was an enjoyable day even with Transport for Wales messing up the start of it.
