Two Decades Ago…

As part of Steam on the Met 2000, LMS Ivatt class 2 2-6-2T 41312, supported by GWR 0-6-0PT 9466, and Metropolitan Railway Bo-Bo electric No. 12 Sarah Siddons, heads a train from Amersham towards Watford via the Watford North Curve, on 27th May 2000. Both steam locos were built during the BR era in 1952, while the electric dates from 1925 - so which is the modern image? And while all three remain, the same cannot be said for the Metropolitan Line A stock, such as that forming an Amersham train on the left. Image credit: Jeremy Harrison

A look back at what I was photographing at the start of this century, now over twenty years ago – so near or so far? A varied mix of steam, diesel and electric, on main, preserved and narrow gauge lines, at home and abroad.
