In 1982 BR created new business units. Passenger Services were split into InterCity, Network SouthEast and Provincial Services, freight was split into Trainload, Speedlink and Freightliner and a parcels sector was created. Mervyn Rogers will explore how this Sectorisation came about and how this affected the run-up to Privatisation.
